My belief is that we do not die, it is only the body, the vehicle for the soul that ceases to function. The essence that is us continues, and at the time that the body ceases to function we move to the spirit world. A world that is on another dimension to us and is vibrating at a much higher rate. As we do not die then it is quite understandable that our friends, family, and acquaintances would still like to keep in touch and keep an eye on what we are doing. It is no different from them moving to Australia, although they are no longer physically with us they still want to keep in touch.

This is where a medium comes in. They are the connection between the two worlds, the telephone by which the communication takes place. This makes it sound simple, but as most things it's not as easy as it sounds. The medium has to use certain senses to be able to communicate with the spirits in the spirit world. Mediums, because they are all individual, use their senses in different ways. For this reason not all mediums work in the same way. The medium needs to raise his vibration as the spirit world lowers theirs, and so a 'blending' takes place. This enables the information to be passed to the medium via his or her senses. The vibrations do fluctuate and this makes the communication more difficult and sometimes this means that the medium does not get the information quite right. Even the best mediums have bad nights and many different things can account for that. Perhaps the medium is not feeling at his or her best, or they might just be feeling tired. I know of one well-known medium that will not work during a certain month of the year as he finds that the atmospherics effect his communication. The aim of the communication is to prove the continuous existence of the spirit, and to provide an opportunity for the spirit world to pass a message to the recipient. Sometimes these messages are cryptic and are not understood by anyone else except the recipient. The message could be of a private nature and should only be understood by the person receiving the message.

I believe that we all have the ability to be able to communicate with spirit. Some people may want to participate in developing their senses. Not everyone will use these abilities for spirit communication as some find that they wish to take the healing route. With healing the healer connects with his or her guides and links to the universal energies, and these energies flow through them into the patient. The energy is then directed to where it is needed the most. There are no guarantees that the healing will be as the recipient desires but a healing does take place and there have been many quite amazing and extraordinary results from Spiritual healing.

Clairvoyance - this is termed as clear seeing. The medium receives mental pictures, perhaps of a person, place or object that can be described to the recipient. Most mediums that work with this sense do so as just described, but there are a few that can actually see a physical form with their eyes.

Clairaudience - this is where the medium will hear words, descriptions, names or dates. It usually sounds like their voice inside their head but again there are some mediums that will hear externally as if they're talking to physical people.

Clairsentience - the spirit world will use the mediums emotions or feelings for communication. Sometimes the medium actually feels in their own body where the spirit communicator had a problem, or where they had a condition that took them to the spirit world. They may also be given a feeling that the medium can relate to, that might then summon up a memory or an event, and they can relay this to the recipient as part of the message.

Clairoma - this is where the medium will smell a scent of, perhaps, flowers, a perfume or even pipe tobacco or cigarette smoke.

Clairknowing - this is one that I will add in, as sometimes the medium gets information, but they do not know on which sense this has been communicated. All they can say is that they just know it.

Mediums may have a prominent sense that they work with and the other senses get used whenever the spirit requires them to. As mediums progress they may find that their prominent sense changes, or that the prominent sense used for certain spirit contact changes. Each spirit will try to work with the medium in the way that they find best to convey what they want to be communicated.
